Pain

The Umbral Element of Pain in Stehreel is a symbol of hurt and agony.  It exists opposite of the Spectral Element of Spirit and can be harnessed by warlocks in the Physical Plane of the world through its three aspects: Pain, Torment, and Anguish.

The main source of pain in Stehreel can be said to be the Spell Breakers who carry around weapons to inflict pain on others.  There is no deity of Pain, no supreme guardian for the element.

On the surface layer of the Umbral Plane, the element of Pain is at its weakest save in the Physical Plane of the world where it only has tangible form.  There are several lesser demons associated with pain, creations of the Kaiser of Pain that can travel the surface layer of the Umbral Plane.

The Lesser Demons of Pain are the Impaler, the Torturer, and the Eviscerator.

The great Kaiser of Pain, the weakest of the Demigods, are called Archfiends; large demonic creatures with wings and smoldering eyes.

On the middle layer of the Umbral Plane, the element of Pain is strong and steady, a wrenching twist of agony.  No Lesser Demons journey to this layer of the Umbral Plane, because all of the passages to it are guarded by those touched by the gods themselves.

Some say that the spirits of those aligned to Pain journey to this layer of the Umbral Plane in death, dwelling in the pockets of eternal torture.

The Infernal Seriph, strongest of the Demigods, dwell on this layer of the Umbral Plane, forged of excruciating energy.  Large smoldering demons with great wings, backswept legs, and lashing tails, the Infernals are terrifying to behold.

In the deepest layer of the Umbral Plane, the element of Pain is so overpowering that it is said no mortal could bear to stand within it.  Only the Gods live here.

There was a God of Pain at one time; called Tikedrion in the oldest of records known.  None know what befell Tikedrion in the early days of the cosmos.  Was it the great war between the Inkari and Nameless that ended in his death?  Was it some scheme of the Nameless that went awry?  Was it during the Cataclysm that broke Stehreel?  None can say.  It is only known that once he did exist, and now he does not.
