Decay

The Umbral Element of Decay in Stehreel is a symbol of disease and madness.  It exists in sympathy with the Spectral Element of Time and can be harnessed by warlocks in the Physical Plane of the world through its three aspects: Decay, Disease, and Chemical.

There isn't a main source of Decay in Stehreel, but it is often said to focus deep in the eastern portions of the continent of Sayleen.  It is said that Wazanest, Nameless of Decay, is buried there.

On the surface layer of the Umbral Plane, the element of Decay is at its weakest save in the Physical Plane of the world where it does not have tangible form.  There are several lesser demons associated with decay, creations of the Kaiser of Decay that can travel the surface layer of the Umbral Plane.

The Lesser Demons of Decay are the Pestilent, the Infector, and the Violator.

The great Kaiser of Decay, the weakest of the Demigods, are called Ghouls; large rotting elf-like creatures in the latter stages of decomposition.

On the middle layer of the Umbral Plane, the element of Decay is strong and steady, a stinking swamp of chemicals and sickness.  No Lesser Demons journey to this layer of the Umbral Plane, because all of the passages to it are guarded by those touched by the hand of the Wazanest himself.

Some say that the spirits of those aligned to Decay journey to this layer of the Umbral Plane in death, dwelling in the pockets of rot.

The Zombie Seriph, strongest of the Demigods, dwell on this layer of the Umbral Plane, forged of desiccate energy.  Large rotting corpses, the Zombies are havens for epidemics and pure insanity.

Wazanest

In the deepest layer of the Umbral Plane, the element of Decay is so overpowering that it is said no mortal could bear to stand within it.  Only the Gods live here, among them Wazanest, the Nameless of Decay.

Sickness, rot, and disease are Wazanest's specialties, and that rot has seeped into his mind. The mad God of Decay, Wazanest is considered the oldest of the male Nameless, and just as patient as The First when it comes to his plans. Like his element, he has the smug confidence that he will win in the end.

When Wazanest wishes to speak to his disciples he does it only in whispers. They hound and twist and writhe in the minds of his priests and inflict upon them a certain degree of insanity. Wazanest does not mind if his priests come to him sane and whole of mind and body; he knows they most certainly will not remain that way in his tender care.

A portion of the Chasm Demons of Stehreel worship Wazanest, but otherwise he has few followers.
