Control

The Umbral Element of Control in Stehreel is a symbol of order and discipline.  It exists in sympathy with the Spectral Element of Ice and can be harnessed by warlocks in the Physical Plane of the world through its three aspects: Control, Adaptation, and Emotion.

There isn't a main source of Control in Stehreel, but it is often said to focus in the Great and Holy Ba'alian Empire of the Cavern Demons below Kayvahn.  It is said that Selan, Nameless of Control, is buried there.

On the surface layer of the Umbral Plane, the element of Control is at its weakest save in the Physical Plane of the world where it does not have tangible form.  There are several lesser demons associated with control, creations of the Kaiser of Control that can travel the surface layer of the Umbral Plane.

The Lesser Demons of Control are the Pusher,  the Shadow Spinner, and the Seditioner.

The great Kaiser of Control, the weakest of the Demigods, are called Apocrita; large demonic wasps with demonsteel stingers and barbed legs.

On the middle layer of the Umbral Plane, the element of Control is strong and steady, a turgid malaise of discipline and obedience.  No Lesser Demons journey to this layer of the Umbral Plane, because all of the passages to it are guarded by those touched by the hand of Selan herself.

Some say that the spirits of those aligned to Control journey to this layer of the Umbral Plane in death, dwelling in the thoroughly regimented cells of order.

The Millipede Seriph, strongest of the Demigods, dwell on this layer of the Umbral Plane, forged of control energy.  Massive, bulbous, worm-like bodies held aloft by a thousand legs hold twelve, piercing eyes.

Selan

In the deepest layer of the Umbral Plane, the element of Control is so overpowering that it is said no mortal could bear to stand within it.  Only the Gods live here, among them Selan, the Nameless of Control.

Selan is every over controlling significant other striving to micromanage every detail of the lives of her followers. She is a manager focused only on how much authority and control she can exert on her cohorts. She is obsessed with strict and ordered dominance and is willing to adapt swiftly and continuously to keep it. The First and the other Nameless exercise a great deal of discretion around Selan, fearing that her tendrils go deeper than any of them know.

Selan can be said to be an overt manipulator. While her servants can be subtle, whispering in the ears of leaders and twisting the lives of their victims, Selan herself takes a much more direct approach. She does not wish to be the power behind the throne, the whip of the democratic caucus, or the adviser to great and powerful people. Instead she seeks to be the ruler and Goddess of every living thing on the face of Stehreel. She wishes to dominate, control, enslave, and manage every detail of their lives. In many ways even her allies among the Nameless find her obsessive drive for power and authority to be obnoxious and offensive.

Selan is the matron goddess of the Cavern Demon Empire, and drives them in their quest to control all other Hkahnihn and dominate the Elven world above.
