Death
The Umbral Element of Death in Stehreel is a symbol of the end of life, and passing out of existence. It exists opposite of the Spectral Element of Plant and can be harnessed by warlocks in the Physical Plane of the world through its three aspects: Death, Blood, and Bone.
The main source of death in Stehreel is graveyards, and none greater than the racial burial ground of the Blood Elves in the Sahrlahth Mountains. It is said that Lotekai, Nameless of Death, is buried deep below the mountains there.
On the surface layer of the Umbral Plane, the element of Death is at its weakest save in the Physical Plane of the world where it has no tangible form. There are several lesser demons associated with death, creations of the Kaiser of Death that can travel the surface layer of the Umbral Plane.
The Lesser Demons of Death are the Assassin, the Nightmare, and the Fiend.
The great Kaiser of Death, the weakest of the Demigods, are called Cheribum; large angelic creatures with cold eyes, black feathered wings, and flaming swords.
On the middle layer of the Umbral Plane, the element of Death is strong and steady, a turgid mass of blood and bone. No Lesser Demons journey to this layer of the Umbral Plane, because all of the passages to it are guarded by those touched by the hand of Lotekai herself.
Some say that the spirits of those aligned to Death journey to this layer of the Umbral Plane in death, dwelling in the pockets of blood and spirits.
The Seraphim Seriph, strongest of the Demigods, dwell on this layer of the Umbral Plane, forged of death energy. Large, four-winged angelic creatures with flaming swords, the Seraphim are devoted to the dead.
Lotekai
In the deepest layer of the Umbral Plane, the element of Death is so overpowering that it is said no mortal could bear to stand within it. Only the Gods live here, among them Lotekai, the Nameless of Death.
Possessed of a cold and heartless intellect, Lotekai loves death and the power she gains from the kill. Stylized the beautiful queen of death, often warriors on the battlefield are said to court her, and those that fall in glorious battle are the rare fortunate whose hands she has accepted. She is feared, revered, even worshiped, but never loved.
Lotekai is everything that a goddess of death should be. She makes deals, thinks in marvelously devilish patterns, hides her actions behind layers of obfuscation, and never breaks from the role that she has assigned herself. She is a stone killer, but she is not obsessed with murder for murder's sake. Her servants do not hesitate to kill, but those deaths are very precise, meant to serve greater purpose. Wanton slaughter has no purpose in most of her plans, and she knows the most calculating of restraint. Even her own allies, the other Nameless, cannot be sure of Lotekai's motives.
Lotekai is the patron goddess of a quarter of the Chasm Demons and portions of Caldera Demons. Though truly, anyone who seeks death can be said to be in her court.
